Craft of Writing - Book

I recently came across a craft of writing book that I love. Usually I’ll skim them or just read the parts that are relevant to me. But this is one of the few books I’ve read cover to cover.

Passionate Ink: A Guide to Writing Erotic Romance by Angela Knight

Passionate Ink by Angela Knight Cover

From pg. 16 - “I don’t care what’s hot right now, write only what you love. That goes triple for erotic romance. If you’re one of those people who blushes bright pink at the thought of sex, you don’t need to be writing EroRom. No matter how skilled you are as a writer, the reader will sense your discomfort and it will jerk her out of the scene.”

From page 141 - “Eroticism isn’t just sticking Tab A into Slot B. It’s description - the curve of his biceps, the way the light shimmers on the upper slopes of her breasts. The reader should feel the sexual tension start to build between the hero and heroine from their first glance. What’s more, you should feel it too, or you’re in trouble.”
