Hero Worship

I had fully intended to post a piece in response to the writing prompt. Unfortunately, I had a hard time choosing which hero I would want to date. I read so many different types of novels it almost feels like cheating to single out just one hero. There has been so many I have fallen in love with through the pages of romance novels and books.

  • Sexy Greek or Italian men from Harlequin Presents Line
  • Mogul, Corporate Raider, Business Men, Alpha Male from Silhouette Desire
  • One of the men from Brenda Jackson’s Series
  •  Lestat
  • Anton from the Wolf Tales Series by Kate Douglas

So I got to thinking.  What do I like in a hero? What do I want in a hero when I read? Write? For my writing and my reading, I think he should have these qualities or at least aspire to them.

Steve Harvey mentioned the 3 P’s. I’ve added 2 more (the last 2) of my own.

  • Profess - his love
  • Provide - for his family and the heroine/hero
  • Protect - his lady love and family
  • Pamper (this doesn’t necessarily mean spoiling)
  • Put it on me - awesome in bed and not selfish

But he should also be:

  • Strong
  • Smart
  • Independent
  • Sense of humor

What are some qualities you like in your romance novel heros?
