Goals for 2008

In my efforts to become a more efficient, better organized, uber prolific outputting writer, I decided to list my writing goals for 2008.  My Writing Goals for 2008:

1. Continue to submit in an effort to be published, and remain published (i.e. not a one hit, two novella wonder) so I can build a backlist and fan base for my works and quit my day job to write full time.

2. Query my “top ten list of agents” to gain representation.

3. Writing Process –  Plot & Outline,Write, Edit, Submit to a CP (when I find one), Revise, Submit to either a publisher/editor/agent depending on length and genre, Repeat process.

4. In addition to goal 3 – write for today, don’t put it off for later, tomorrow or another day. Write while the idea, be it a new story idea or a scene, is hot. Or at least record it in my mini recorder or notebook, dependent on which is handy at the time, so I won’t forget it.

5. Become more open, break away from my comfort zone and shyness to establish a better online prescence.

6. Finish what I start

7. Submit what I have finished so others may read what I write instead of it sitting taking up space on my hard drive.

8. Keep writing even if it’s a page or a paragraph a day.

9. Learn to write through my IE (Internal Editor) and NDD (Negative Doubt Demons) no matter how much they tell me I suck.

10. Write

11. Use the tools I’ve learned from online courses, RD and life to write

12. Repeat this mantra (to help with confidence and eliminate the IE and NDD) – I AM A GREAT WRITER. MY VOICE & STORIES WILL BE READ. I AM A GREAT WRITER.

13. Eliminate procrastination and distractions. Write more.

14. Network – Build better relationships, true relationships

15. Speak Up – don’t wait for my turn to speak, don’t remain silent when I have an opinion that may be valid.

16. Learn more about self promotion and marketing

17. Don’t write for free (unless it’s for a good cause). My writing is worth something.

18. Write

19. Work on my website

20. Blog more
