Friday Flash Fiction – The Pickup
The Pickup by Angeleque Ford
Taking a seat at the hotel bar, Tammie smiled at the man seated three chairs down from her.
“Do you come here often?” he moved two places so they were closer.
“You couldn’t come up with a more original pick-up line.” She laughed.
“Why don’t you give it a try? You don’t know how hard it is.”
“Touché.” She turned her chair so she was facing him. With a smile that showed off her straight-thanks-to-braces teeth, stuck out her hand and said, “Hi. I’m Tammie.” She paused, “I like the direct approach.”
He nodded, “I’m Terrence. Nice to meet you Tammie. So what’s a nice girl like you doing sitting at the bar alone.” He paused, “Unless you’re waiting for someone.”
“What if I said I was waiting for you?” She took a slow sip of her drink, calculating her next move. She could go through with it. She just had to follow the script. It was his fantasy and he’d won the bet fair and square. Though she suspected he’d cheated. “A friend of mine called me a prude and said I would never come here alone and pickup a guy.”
“Isn’t that a bit dangerous? Picking up random strangers in bars?”
“It can be.” She moved over to the next chair so she was sitting next to him. “But it helps if you know the person.” Leaning over, she whispered into his ear, “How do you feel about sex in public? That’s the other fantasy I’ve had. You, me, a dark corner.”
Friday Flash Fiction – Questions
Questions by Angeleque Ford
Malcolm knew there would be questions as soon as he walked into the penthouse. And, for his taste, the elevator ride was too quick. But, he wasn’t ready to face Essence or her questions.
Taking in a slow breath, he opened the door and stepped inside. He closed the door, stunned. The room was alight in candles. And she stood, by the window, in only his tie.
“Essence.” He breathed softly.
“Malcolm.” She said turning with a smile. “Is it over?”
“What?” he frowned. Setting his duffel bag down by the door.
“Your case? Your cousin let it slip the other day when I was at the diner ranting ranting about a tube of lipstick I’d found under the front seat of the car. I don’t wear lipstick. So of course I jumped to conclusions.” She paused, moving towards him, “And so we talked. And she told me.”
“I’m sorry.” He said stepping closer, “I wanted to tell you. Why didn’t you say anything?”
“We’ll discuss all of that tomorrow.” She kissed him, “And we’ll discuss communication and trust too. But for now…” Essence pushed him backward onto the sofa and stood in front of him. “I’ll ask you 5 questions and you answer them the best way that you can.”
“Okay.” His gaze met hers, “You look good in just my tie.”
She laughed, “I figured you might appreciate the outfit.” She paused, “Now first question. Are you okay?”
“Yes.”
“Are you done with this case?”
“For the most part.” He grabbed her hand and pulled her into his lap.
“Whose lipstick was that in the car?”
“I can’t say.”
She nodded, “And I’ll accept that for now. I want you to know I trust you.” She caressed his cheek, “Before I ask the fourth question. I’m going to give you a chance to back out.”
“No. I agreed. I’ll answer it if I can.”
Essence got off his lap and went to stand over by the window.
“Essence?”
“I don’t know if I should ask this next question. I may not be ready to hear your answer.”
“If you’re going to ask me have I ever killed anyone…”
“That’s not it Malcolm. I know what you do. I’m not as naive as some people seem to think. I know your job is dangerous and that sometimes you may have to use your weapon to protect yourself or others.”
He stood up, went over to the mantel, picked up a picture of them together on their trip to Paris. Facing her, he said, “What’s your question? It can’t be that bad Essence. After what I did, you can ask me anything. Unfortunately, I can’t guarantee I can answer. But I love you. I want us to work. I want you in my life.” Gently, he turned her around so he could see her face, “Essence. I love you. More than I thought possible.”
“No fair.” She said on a watery sigh. “You stole my fourth question.”
“What?”
“I was going to ask if you loved me.”
“Love.” He corrected. “Yes. Essence I love you.”
“Okay. I get another question since you took my questions.”
“But first I have a question for you.”
“That’s only fair.” She smiled.
“Can I kiss you?”
Essence laughed, “I thought that you were going to ask me if I was in love with you.”
“I don’t have to ask. I know you do. You showed me. You stayed.”
Friday Flash Fiction – I Apologize
This is a deleted scene from a story I wrote a few years ago.
Dear Eva,
I am miserable, It feels like I’m living an existence, a life that is not my own, which I don’t recognize.
I look in the mirror and don’t see a reflection, it’s like a vampire entered my body and stole my soul. I don’t know who I am anymore, but I want and need to find out.
This is step 1. Writing to you, to apologize.
I’m sorry I took you and your love for granted. I’m sorry I let things go as far as they did.
I was scared, but that’s no excuse. I thought we could make it through anything, even my own stupidity so I stopped trying and cherishing you. But that’s an excuse too, I guess.
I’m not writing asking for forgiveness or even another chance. I don’t deserve it. And I’m not saying it to get pity, sorrow or sympathy. It’s the truth. I hurt you and I don’t deserve another chance because I know I will only hurt you again. That’s what I do. And unfortunately, I’m good at it.
I realize now that I lost a lot when I lost you. And I understand now. What you were trying to do. You weren’t trying to change me or make me into someone I’m not, or someone you wanted me to be. I’m sorry I thought you were and that it cost me you.
By the time this reaches you, I’ll be traveling. But my cell number hasn’t changed if you want to talk.
If you were wondering what step 2 is, it’s to get my life back, to get back to being me. If you were wondering why you should care, you shouldn’t. But it’s… Never mind, that part doesn’t matter.
I just wanted to tell you I’m sorry and to tell you, for what it’s worth, — I have loved you all my life and probably will love you for the rest of my life. Ever since I first laid my eyes on you and I love you still.

Flash Fiction Friday – Adore
I wrote this based off a writing exercise. Write a story (500 word limit) based on your favorite song, using the song lyrics as the story inspiration and the song title as the story title. Adore is 131 words. And is based off of one of my favorite Prince songs.
Adore by Angeleque Ford
Stefano looked down at his wife as he clutched the folded flag to her chest. He saw the tears running down her face and her body shaking with her sobs.
He kneeled down beside her, his hand hovered above her knee. He looked up into her sad brown eyes.
A gentle breeze carassed her hair as he spoke, “Until the end of time…”
He watched her look around. He hoped she felt his presence. She looked up towards the sky, a sad smile against her lips.“Yes. I’m here.” He stood, whispered a kiss on her forehead. “I’ll always be here for you. I love you.”
Kat quietly called his name, tears still in her eyes but no longer falling.
“I love you too.” Her voice soft and low, broken with emotion.
Flash Fiction Friday – Another Round
Subject – Another round
Babe,
Today was totally hedonistic. I don’t know how else to describe the things you did to me. I’m still quivering from your touch.
I’m having aftershocks and totally loving it. I sent you a gift today. It should arrive shortly after you receive this. I hope you enjoy it. Call me with an answer to my question.
Love always,
Reesa
Jade smiled and closed her email. Just as Teresa has said there was a knock at the door. The messenger gave her a gift wrapped shoebox size box.
She took the box, he waved off her offer of a tip and she went back into the house. Tearing off the muted gold wrapping, she pulled off the top and laughed. Jade pulled out the double dildo strap on. There was a note underneath.
Babe,
Next time I want you to use this on me. When can we do it again?
Love always,
Ressa
Jade got out her cell and pressed the speed dial for Teresa. “How about tonight?”
Flash Fiction Friday – Relationship Intervention
What happens when your friends dislike your latest girlfriend?
Relationship Intervention
“Look damn it. I don’t give a flying fuck where you are, what or who you’re doing. Get your ass here within the hour or else I’m coming to get you.” Mamoru Lee growled into the phone before hanging up.
“You think she’ll come.” Gabe asked.
“Yeah. She loves him. She’ll come.” Mamoru said sitting down with a sigh. “You got your gun on you.”
Gabe nodded.
“Is it loaded?” he asked his tone serious.
“Yes.” He paused, “You think this’ll work?” he asked sitting down in one of the chairs.
“If it doesn’t,” Mamoru said, “I’m having him committed. I can’t take much more of this shit.”
“Have you talked to her?”
“Yeah.” Mamoru nodded. “I sent Carter to make sure she came.”
“He just got finished threatening her.” Gabe said with a smirk.
“You threatened her?” Cesare snickered, “She’ll probably come over just to kick your ass.”
“I didn’t threaten Amara. I just said if she wasn’t over here in an hour that I was going to get her.”
Cesare nodded as Gloria and Sarah came in with a bunch of packages.
“Well it looks like everyone is here almost.” Sarah sighed before going over to Mamoru and giving him a quick kiss.
“Are we going to disarm Jirou?” Chrissy asked. “Cause he’s going to freak when he sees us here and then finds out the reason.”
“I don’t want to get shot tonight.” Peter said.
“What makes you think he’d shoot you?” Cesare asked.
“I’m the one he likes the least.”
“We got some rope and ties from the hardware store.” Gloria said, “And I got a couple pair of handcuffs.”
“I won’t ask where you got them from.” Sarah said.
“Your special drawer.” Gloria smirked and laughed when Liz threw a pillow at her.
“What special drawer?” Mamoru asked, his eyes lighting up.
“Never mind the special drawer.” Sarah said with a glare at Gloria.
They looked up when an irritated and grumbling Amara entered in front of a smirking Carter.
An hour later, Jirou Lee walked into his apartment, looked at all the people there and growled, “What’s going on? Why are you all here? I could arrest you all for tresspassing, breaking and entering.”
“I hate to break it to you bro but I live here. We’re having a meeting.” Mamoru said.
“About?” Jirou prompted sitting down in one of the chairs.
“You.” Gabe said.
“What about me?” Jirou asked starting to get up.
Cesare and Peter, who had been behind the chair held him in place.
Mamoru nodded at Gloria and Sarah who each took a pair of handcuffs and latched them to Jirou and then to the chair arms.
He struggled and Mamoru gave Peter and Cesare the nod, they tied Jirou to the chair with the rope.
“I’m going to kill you when I get out of the Mamoru. What the fuck is your problem?”
“You are you asshole. I’m sick and tired of watching you walk around with the blonde barbie wannabe with the bad boob job. I don’t like her. She’s not good enough for you.So I’m staging an intervention. You may be blinded by the power of her hooha. But you’re going to sit there and listen to what we have to say.”
Jirou just remained silent, his eyes getting darker and narrowing even more.
“Feel free to jump in anytime Amara.” Mamoru said.
“I’m here under duress. If Jirou wants to stick to the blonde bimbo then that’s him. I have nothing to do with this.”
“Oh that’s a lie.” Jirou said.
“How is this my fault?” Amara glared at him.
“You know what happened. You knew going in what I did for a living.”
“You’re still tripping over that. That was…” she trailed off.
“It was what?” Brigitte prompted.
“This is all about what happened a year and a half ago.” Gabe said his voice low, “I should have known.”
“You know what’s going on?” Mamoru asked.
“He told you.” Amara said amazed.
“Yeah.” Gabe nodded, “I think I was the most objective party. I should have seen it, that’s what started all this.”
“What happened?” Cesare asked, getting a bad feeling.
“Amara and Jirou had went out a few times. After the big break up, just as friends, but it didn’t work. You know how Jirou feels about Amara. And I don’t think they can just be friends. He asked for another chance. She said no.” Gabe said.
“And so Jirou, being how he is went for quick and easy” Brigitte said.
“You hate easy.” Amara muttered.
“Well I can’t have who I want, what I want. Why not have it easy?” He yelled.
“Oh for pete’s sake. That was a year and a half ago. I was scared and didn’t want to take a chance on getting hurt again. And you could have fought for me, fought for us. Instead you give in, give up and go to Lolita. Who has always wanted you by the way. Even when we were together. And she took great pleasure in rubbing your relationship in my face.”
“And you do now.” Jirou yelled.
“Yes.” Amara yelled back, “But you’re with the slut.”
“No I’m not. I was going to break it off before I left town, but she wasn’t there.” Jirou said. He looked at Mamoru, “Now untie me Mamoru so I can kill you.”
“No.” Mamoru laughed, “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“Why didn’t you say you hated her so much?” Jirou asked, “She was just a fuck buddy, nothing serious.” He paused, “I can’t believe you thought I was serious about her.”
“I thought you had lost your mind. You were always with her. And don’t tell me it was just the sex. It couldn’t have been that good.” Mamoru said.
“Yeah. You never talked about it.” Gabe said, “With Chrissy, you talked. With Amara, you smiled. With Lolita, you just kinda were quiet and kept growling.”
“You can uncuff and untie him.” Amara said, “He’ll be okay now.”
Mamoru looked at her, then at Jirou and nodded.
“Can you give us some time together?” she asked, “Alone?”
They looked from her to him and back again and nodded, filing out of the penthouse slowly.
Amara remained where she was, across the room from Jirou, leaning against the wall.
Jirou sat in the chair, now free but not bothering to get up.
They watched each other for a few moments until Jirou tilted his head, his eyes lit up slightly, his breathing calm and relax. He looked her in the eyes and asked the one question that came to his mind, “Now what?”
