Sunday Thoughts – Juggling Acts

For the past few weeks I have been focusing on my other writing persona while I work on my NaNoWriMo project. And the writing has been going well. I’ve done 32K.

But I’m not giving up or letting go of Angeleque. But I think the break is a good thing. Next month or the beginning of the year, I’ll come up with a more concrete plan on writing and blogging with the two writing identities.

Plus there is the other things I have to factor in like real life, job hunting, school and family obligations.

I have some great ideas that I’m plotting/planning out. I’ll give more details on them later.

Genre Identity

I write erotic romance as well as women’s fiction and YA. I just started to blog and tweet as my other persona (non-erotic, adult, ya).

It has been very interesting the response and stats on the different blogs/personas. It has also been a very different experience because I think the other persona is closer to the real life me. So far, I think, I have been managing the balancing and juggling of having to different writer persona’s.

I am trying to keep the identities separate, but I know (eventually) they may meet up.

Another difference – my non-erotic writing is longer in word count than my adult-oriented erotic stories. Maybe that says something. I don’t know. Maybe I’ll analyze that later.

But it has me wondering. How do other writer’s do it? How do they manage two different sides of writing if they write under two different names?

Today’s the Day – Angela James at RD

Angela James, editor extraordinaire, is coming to Romance Divas for a 3 day class on Epublishing! Come join us Jan 13-15 and ask her anything.

Everything You Ever Needed to Know About Epublishing (and some things you didn’t know you should know)

Why doesn’t epublishing offer advances? What are some of the pros and cons of publishing my manuscript via epublishing? How do I research publishers? Can I really make money in epublishing? What exactly is POD? Can you give me a snappy comeback for people who say that epublishing isn’t real publishing?

Epublishing has evolved and grown, especially in the last 5 years, but with growth comes pitfalls and problems, and trusting an epublisher with your baby might seem like a risky proposition. We’ll cover the basics of epublishing, from choosing an epublisher and contract details to methods of ebook and print distribution to reasons why you might not want to epublish your manuscript.

Bio:

In 2005, Angela James joined Samhain Publishing, Ltd, a small press company focusing on digital publishing, as its executive editor, where she has played an instrumental role in building the company from the ground up. In her executive position at Samhain, Angela is responsible for managing the publisher’s editorial services division. Her responsibilities include the management of editorial staff, quality oversight, networking and marketing efforts at regional, national and international writing conferences to promote the electronic publishing industry as well as Samhain.

In addition to her administrative duties, Angela continues to edit more than 50 authors including national bestselling authors Lucy Monroe, Lilith Saintcrow and Deidre Knight.

A Day Off

It’s my day off and what am I going to do.

Write, Read and Sleep.

Not necessarily in that order.

I’ve already plotted one novella and working on another.
I haven’t had a day off, a whole day with nothing to do but what I want in so long
I don’t know how to act.

Off for more Writing, Reading and Sleeping.

What’s YOUR Writing Style?

You are a romantic writer. You’re ALWAYS writing
about some significant other–about lacking
one, about wanting one, about having one, about
being with one–it doesn’t matter. If it
involves even a tiny ounce of love, you’re
there! Much into the works of Christina
Rossetti and the works of Alfred Tennyson, you
are a bit of a classical writer as well….but,
for the sake of all things cheesy, you’re more
of a hopeless romantic than a classical writer.
You write whatever comes to mind–which usually
involves a significant other. ^^; Oh well. If
literary geniuses don’t do it, who will, right?

The Email

Here’s another article which was published by Romance Diva’s for the Blog.

“We’d officially like to aquire…”

When I first read those words, I was shocked. For years I’ve known I could write, wanted to write, wanted to be a published author.

How did it happen?

I originally wrote a story for a contest, small 300 word piece. I didn’t win in the contest but was encouraged to submit it to publishers. I was undecided and scared, what if they hated it and called me a no talent hack. What if no one wanted to publish it.

Then I thought, what if someone did
